EOTC tomorrow!

Mr B has just rung and let me know that he has been talking to Mr Beech and our ETOC is going ahead tomorrow.  Wear suitable clothing for being in the bush. Good walking shoes.  A good morning tea and lunch.  A big drink.  Beanie.  Bring a good rain jacket as the weather is supposed to change after lunch.

Farewell

On Tuesday we were surprised to hear that Else has left our school and is now going to an Intermediate in Wellington.  We didn't get a chance to say farewell to Else but we hope that she enjoyed her time here with us at Carterton School.  We enjoyed her enthusiasm for learning and school life.  Room 12 and I wish her all the best with her future learning at her new school.

Week 9 - The Last Week of the Term and Leadership Week

Leadership Week
Monday:  EOTC day at Mount Holdsworth.
Tuesday:  Technology today.  Cycle Safety Practical with the Police. Please bring your bike and helmet to school today if you can (Mixed groups/times with Room 12,13 and 14).
Wednesday:  Cycle Safety Practical with the Police.  Please bring your bike and helmet to school today if you can (Mixed groups/times with Room 12,13 and 14).
Thursday: Report file work
Friday:  Final assembly for the term at 9:00am in the hall and you are welcome to attend.
At 11am Room 12, 13, and 14 have Sue Foley visiting to talk to us about Leadership Week and The Sir Peter Blake Trust.  You are more than welcome to attend.

Sue Foley is Sue is one of New Zealand’s most well respected corporate affairs executives and an award-winning television journalist. She joined Westpac as the Director of Corporate Affairs from Massey University where she was Assistant Vice Chancellor, responsible for its marketing and communications, and a member of its Senior Leadership Team. She has also held senior roles across government, television and public relations including Chief of Staff of the Opposition (2001 – 2003), Chief of Staff TV3 News and Senior Consultant at a leading public relations consultancy.  Sue is also the Deputy Chair of the Sir Peter Blake Trust and as an outstanding communicator who knew Sir Peter Blake well.

Week 8 - what is happening this week.

Spelling and homework have been sent home today.
EOTC updated notice - we will be needing transport for this.  Please fill this in and send it back to me as soon as possible.

Monday:  Matariki and how space influences our world.  Report file work.
Tuesday:  Technology today.  Whanau Hui at 5:30 for kai and 6:00 for quiz evening in the Staffroom.
Wednesday:  Ki o rahi for those in the team (I am unsure of the time you go to this).  Report file work
Thursday: Report file work.  Library and Computer (return your library books today)  Kapa Haka swap.  Evening - Disco fundraiser for our camp from 7 - 9 for older students.
Friday:  Buddy Class. Report file work.  Matariki assembly (Time to be confirmed)

We have a problem in Room 12 with missing pens, pencils and rulers.  Could you please send/bring to school named pens, pencils and a ruler (if needed).  My spare supply is now exhausted.

Up and Coming

This may be updated when and if things change:

Tuesday 10th: Technology today. 
Wednesday 11th:  Support Staff Day.  Today is a special day to thank all of our support staff for the wonderful work they do.  A special thanks to Mrs Pratt, Mrs Hutchings, Sue, Faith, Mr Rositer and Jayne Cayless for working with and helping Room 12 this year.  We appreciate it a lot.
Thursday 12th: EOTC Day (if fine) Notices have been sent home.  If it is not on we will be working on,finishing and presenting our Oral Presentations.
Thursday 12th:  Three Room 12 boys are off to a haka workshop at Lakeview School lead by some boys from Te Aute College. 
Friday 13th:  School Assembly as well as continuing our Oral Presentations.

Postcards

Today we explored communication and our environment.  We wondered how to inform others about what is happening to our oceans/environment.  We came up with making postcards to send off to others to inform them of how to care for/respect our environment.  Here are our finished postcards.
Great work Room 12.  They will be in the mailbox soon!

Team Speeches - Our class presentations will be next week

We recorded Rosalie's speech on our Team i-pod but I am not sure how to upload it without an error happening and I can't seem to rotate it the correct way.  I will keep working on it so keep watching this space.
 

Friday

Today we had tuakana/teina (Buddy Class) and it was awesome. Here we are with our buddies helping them with their learning and building friendships.















Thursday

We went and helped in Room 3 with their Family Play Corner.  We explored, investigated and designed a play area.  It is being built and installed on Tuesday next week.  What a great inquiry for Room 3 and Room 12.
Thanks Room 3 for letting us take part in this.

Wednesday

We were lucky to have Wairarapa Choir come and perform to us in our hall.  It was amazing.  It may have encouraged our students to take part in the Choir when they get to college.

On that same day, after morning tea, we had cross country and Room 12 had a lot of amazing results.
Year 8 Boys - William, Sam, Thomas, and Duncan
Year 8 Girls - Ashley, Rosalie, Nikita, Holly and Emily
Year 7 Boys -Kyle, Sheldon, Mitchell and Ethan
Year 7 Girls - Leana, Jasmine and Else
These students will be going to Kahutara on the 18th June.  Notices are in their bag today.

Week 5: What is happening this week?

Monday:  Queen's Birthday

Tuesday:  Remember we have Technology today so bring your covered shoes, books and pens.  If you were given homework from the Technology teacher make sure you have it completed.

Graphic is on for Ben and Mitchell from 2pm to 3pm:  Remember to do your homework task for Ms Pincent!

Wednesday:  9am to 10am we have a choir/band visiting our school.  We will be going to the hall to listen to them.
Cross country is on today at 10:20! 
Remember:
  • You must wear shoes or you can not take part as it is unsafe for bare feet is some areas. 
  • Wear your house colours!
  • Bring a named cup for a warm Milo afterwards.
  • If you are not able to run bring a signed note from your parents.
Wednesday afternoon we will be working on our oral presentations (You can work on this for homework also)

Friday:  we will be working on our oral presentations.  I hope they will be finished and ready for presenting today.

We will begin working on our Report Files this week and will be adding to them regularly over the next few weeks.  If you have last years report file at home please send it to school as soon as possible.
